Why not a Subaru WRX or WRX STI?

If you in the market for a hot rod around $35,000, you are in luck. You’ll find what you are looking for in good looking Subaru WRX or WRX STI both are brand new for 2015. They both are street legal. Born from the Subaru’s legendary Impreza, the WRX or WRX STI is a sedan on steroids. The 2.0-liter WRX and 2.5-liter WRX STI comes with horizontally opposed 4-cylinder, 305 horsepower, and manual transmission all with all-wheel drive (AWD). The 305 horsepower under the hood is not easy to drive at low speeds. Known as the “boxer”, the horizontally opposed engine is a trademark for Subaru. The AWD is the common standard for all Subaru vehicles. At a total weight about 3,300 pounds it delivers 17 city, 23 highway and 19 combined miles per gallon.

Stiff steering at low speed is a concern but as you gain momentum, it starts to loosen. However, you may experience the road noise bit more than other hot rods. The car corners well and especially the STI is a fun to drive on back roads. Some don’t like the big wing on the back of the car. In IIHS crash testing, the WRX was rated “Good.”
