The new carbon fiber BMW i8 Hybrid sports car

The TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder, 362 horsepower BMW i8 two-door sports car claims that it can reach 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. It is a plug-in hybrid just like Tesla Motor’s Model S. Model S is a four-door sedan that takes 5.4 seconds to reach 0 to 60. This difference is just the begging.

The carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic i8 weighs 3,285 pounds. It can seat four adults. An electric engine in the front and combustion engine in the rear, the i8 comes in with an all-wheel drive. Pure electric will get you 22 and combined with gasoline it delivers top speed of 75 mph. The i8 has a starting price point of $135,700.

Tesla’s Model S comes with a curb weight of 4,647 pounds and comfortably seats five. The rear wheel drive pure electric has certified range of 265 miles on a single charge and deliver top speed of 90 MPGe on the highway. Its starting MSRP is $69,900 for the 60 kWh Model S and $79,900 for the 85 kWh Tesla Model S.

When comparing the price, BMW i8 is more expensive. But when looking at basic specs, the i8 looks more impressive. You be the judge.
