New electric car from BMW

In order to compete with electric cars made by Nissan, Mitsubishi, Tesla, Ford and Honda, BMW is introducing its own i3 electric car. But not many are impressed with the new car.

BMW i3 goes 80 to 100 miles between charges according to the company estimates. This range may be adequate in Europe but will be a tough sell in the U.S.

Tesla is leading the pac with its futuristic design and style. Proposed BMW is a five door hatchback at lease in the U.S. The U.S. customer appears to want more room and style than what it offers.

The vehicle is expected to be priced around $41,000 which is slightly higher than the competition. However, the Federal incentives will lower the price by about $10,000.

However, not everything is bad in the BMW i3 electric car. The interior of the BMW i3 offers a nicer interior design than those other mainstream electric cars. Its LCD panel appears like a TV sitting on a stereo. The body is made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic making it the lighter yet safe and stronger. BMW pride itself as the “ultimate driving machine” and hope the drivers find the new electric car live up to the claim.
