Korean Luxury to compete with Germans and Japanese

The affordable car maker Hyundai has come a long way from its humble beginnings.  Well known for $13,000 Accents has a $66,000 Equus Ultimate (luxury for four) or Signature (seats five) that is intended to compete with mainstream luxury’s made by Germans and Japanese carmakers.

The Equus Ultimate is not a flashy car but comes with back massagers, a refrigerator and others to make your ride much more fun and comfortable.  Its front looks like a Mercedes Benz and from the sides it looks like a Buick LaCrosse.  The 429-hp, 5.0 liter V8 rear wheel drive has an electric-assisted steering and comes with 19-inch chrome alloy wheels.  The highway drive experience is much smoother due to electronically adjustable air-suspension and damping system.  The new upgrades provide 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds.  The 4,500-plus weight still provides 15 city and 23 highway miles per gallon.  Other features include bucket seats for four, 17-speaker audio system, lane-departure warning sensors, hill-holding brakes, and a backup camera.  The Equus is competitively priced around $66,000, but less than those close competitors including Lexus 460 L ($89,000) and Mercedes Benz E 550 4MATIC ($76,000).  The 2013 Equus has a MSRP of $66,250.
